My Works
A Brief Biography
Born in 1940 in Berlin Germany, I experienced and witnessed horrible things during the war and also after the war when East Germany was under Russian occupation. These horrors had a tremendous impact on my early perception of life. In 1953, my mother and I escaped to West Berlin. For my sixteenth birthday my mother gave me my first camera and a box full of film from a photo shop where she worked.. I began taking photos of everything that moved, and didn’t move, because my mother was able to process all the photos at work for free. Through Photography I began to realize how presciuous and beautiful life is, and I was hooked. After graduating from the School of Higher Graphic Arts in Stuttgart, Germany I got a job as a photographer’s assistant and when the head photographer retired two years later I found myself running the largest photography studio in Ulm, Germany.
